Welcome to Paris

Welcome to Paris,
One of the most beautiful cities in the World

Paris is the capital of France, it had, in 2004, a population of 2,144,700. This city was called Lutetia in the past.

One of the most famous place in this city is the Eiffel Tower which was created by Gustave Eiffel (he lived in Dijon, where I live ^_^)in 1889. Including the 20.75 m (70 ft) antenna, the structure is 320.75 m (1070 ft) high which is about 81 storeys.

6,428,441 people visited the tower in 2005 and more than 200,000,000 since its construction.

L'arc de Triomphe is also a famous place in France. The monument stands over 51 meters (165 feet) in height and is 45 meters wide.
It was commissioned in 1806 by the Emperor Napoleon I and the construction would not be completed until the reign of King Louis-Philippe in 1833-36.
Beneath the Arc is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from the First World War. Interred here on Armistice Day 1920, it has the first eternal flame lit in Western Europe since the Vestal Virgins' fire was extinguished in the year 391. It burns in memory of the dead who were never identified, now in both World Wars.

The Louvre Museum is one of the largest, oldest, most important and famous art gallery and museum in the world.

In 2005, the Louvre received a record 7.3 million visitors.

You could have seen it in the movie The Da Vinci Code.
